There are many reason to move to another website hosting provider. Maybe your existing web-host has had unreasonable downtime or perhaps you have simply outgrown your current provider.
Moving your website to another website hosting provider should be a fairly straight forward process but it should be done in a way that prevents downtime. Provided you follow this simple check-list you will be able to move to another hosting provider with the minimum of fuss and hassle.
The first thing to do is make sure you have access to your current providers control panel and also ensure you have control over your domain name -You would be surprised how many people and business fail to ensure that they have control over their own domain!
Migrating your website should be done by following this simple check-list
- Backup your existing website along with any databases that it uses.
- Upload the website and database to your new website hosting provider.
- Set-up any email accounts that you need on your new provider.
- Download any email from your existing hosting provider.
- When you are happy that everything is done you can point the domain name over.
Some of these steps can be a little technical for anyone not familiar with website hosting but any good web host will be more than happy to arrange the migration.
